Salterton provides surveillance and covert evidence retrieval for organisations across the private and public sectors. Our work is led by former Senior Investigating Officers with major crime and national counter-terrorism surveillance experience, alongside a former National Surveillance Trainer.

We focus on quality rather than volume. Every instruction is approached with the discipline our team applied across three decades of policing and covert operations, and is underpinned by strong ethical standards.

‍

What We Deliver

Every instruction begins with a formal risk and proportionality assessment. We can then deliver the following:

  • Mobile surveillance. Vehicle-based surveillance of subjects across single or multiple locations, including multi-day deployments.
  • Foot surveillance. Discreet, proportionate close surveillance where vehicle deployment is not appropriate.
  • Static and observation post surveillance. Fixed-point observation for sustained monitoring of activity or premises.
  • CCTV deployment, retrieval and forensic review. Covert camera deployment, and footage retrieval and review to forensic standards.
  • OSINT research. Open-source research to develop intelligence ahead of, or alongside, deployment.
  • Covert test purchasing. Test purchases to evidence counterfeiting and intellectual property crime, rogue trading, licensing breaches and other unlawful sales.
  • Intelligence packages. Clear, actionable reporting for clients who need to understand activity before deciding on next steps.
  • Evidential packages. Statements, timelines and video evidence prepared for criminal complaints and civil proceedings, to court and tribunal standard.
  • Surveillance training. Basic surveillance tactics and fieldcraft, anti-surveillance and counter-surveillance training, delivered to public and private sector clients in the UK and overseas.

Why Salterton

Our specialists start with a detailed exploratory meeting to make sure your objectives are fully understood. This informs a clear set of tactical options for you to consider, and we commit to proposing the most cost-effective options that will achieve your strategic aim.

Our surveillance specialists bring over 90 years of combined policing experience. The team includes former Detective Inspectors who have led regional counter-terrorism surveillance operations and a major crime investigation team, serving as Senior Investigating Officers on homicide, organised crime and nationally significant investigations, with High Court Judge commendations for investigative excellence. Alongside them is a former National Surveillance Trainer with over 20 years on force and regional organised crime surveillance units. Between them they cover mobile and static deployment, premises reconnaissance, CCTV and evidence gathering to court and tribunal standard, and the training and mentoring of surveillance operatives. They plan and lead operations, and deploy on the ground themselves.

We run multi-day, multi-location and multi-subject surveillance with our own team, without subcontracting to third parties.

Depending on your needs, we provide intelligence packages to inform decisions, or court-ready evidence packaged to meet disclosure and evidential standards. Evidence is captured, exhibited and reported to a standard that mirrors major crime practice.

All surveillance deployments are planned and documented in accordance with RIPA, GDPR and wider public sector legal requirements, and delivered ethically with the highest levels of integrity. All instructions are handled in confidence.
