Ian Tyers is the founder of Salterton. A former detective and team leader within UK policing, Ian brings decades of operational leadership experience to every engagement. As a career detective, Ian gained vast experience in tackling serious and organised crime in both overt and covert operations.
Ian founded Salterton in 2020 with a clear conviction: that the best advice comes from people who have done the job themselves. Under his leadership, Salterton is growing from an initial single FCDO contract in Montserrat through it's network of senior specialists with experence in delivering across the UK, British Overseas Territories, the Caribbean and internationally.
Ian’s approach is built on personal relationships, fair engagement and genuine knowledge transfer. He believes in deploying the right specialist for each challenge rather than staffing by availability, and in building local capacity rather than creating dependency. This philosophy has earned Salterton a reputation for delivering outcomes that outlast the consultancy engagement itself.
Through Ian's leadership, Salterton commits to maintaining active relationships with commissioners, governors and senior officials across the British Overseas Territories and the wider Caribbean. With the support of the advisory board, Ian continues to lead Salterton’s strategic growth as the organisation expands into new markets and service areas.
