Matt Jackson DSO

A former Royal Marines Senior Officer now CEO of the Royal Marines Charity, advising on governance, leadership and resilience in the most complex and uncertain environments.

Experience:

Matt spent 30 years in the Royal Marines where he commanded on Operations at many levels: Northern Ireland (1995); Bosnia (1999); Iraq three times (2003, 2004 and 2009); and, Afghanistan (2012). As commander 3 Commando Brigade he led a large Russia-facing amphibious deterrence deployment in the Baltics 2019. His last job in the military was running Professional Military Education for the Armed Forces at the Defence Academy of the UK.

About Matt

Matt is currently the CEO of the Royal Marines Association - The Royal Marines Charity.

He spent 30 years in the Royal Marines, and was awarded a Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service (QCVS) in 2009 and the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) for gallantry in 2012.

As an advisor to Salterton, Matt adds value in governance, leadership, resilience and operating in complex/uncertain environments.

He was educated at Oundle School and Jesus College Cambridge. In his spare time, he enjoys: training for national and international indoor rowing competitions; going for Park runs with his children; holding one of his children’s four horses while simultaneously watching their inheritance disappear; and, dreaming about once again going skiing.
