About Michael

Major Crime Investigation & SIO Experience

Michael is an experienced Senior Investigating Officer who has led major investigations including murder, firearms incidents and complex historic abuse cases. As Crime Commander and his force's Principal Family Liaison Coordinator, he managed organisational on-call responsibilities for critical incidents and oversaw significant business change projects across Serious and Organised Crime, PREVENT, Public Protection and Intelligence functions, including establishing a multi-agency referral team and amalgamating two intelligence hubs.

Overseas Territories & International Policing

As Chief of Police in a British Overseas Territory, Michael was responsible for all community and operational policing, including investigations, safeguarding and intelligence, working to HE Governor. He served as MAPPA and MARAC Chair and was the policy and implementation lead for Child Sexual Exploitation. As Deputy Commissioner and Head of Investigations for a police service in the South Atlantic, he led the Emergency Control Room, Intelligence, Probation and Safeguarding functions, with temporary duties as Chief of Police covering immigration, sea rescue, fire, prison and emergency planning.

Strategic Advisory & Training

As a Strategic Advisor and Overseas Territories Regional Criminal Intelligence System (OTRCIS) Investigative Specialist, Michael delivers incident, crime, intelligence and risk management training to police, immigration and customs staff across British Overseas Territories, alongside the development of supporting policies and standard operating procedures.

NHS Security Management & Safeguarding

As an Accredited Local Security Management Specialist for the NHS, Michael has conducted full site security surveys across more than 230 premises to reduce risk and protect staff, patients and visitors. His work includes Serious Incident Reports, Root Cause Analysis and Serious Untoward Investigations, alongside delivery of crime prevention, safeguarding, professional boundaries and risk awareness training to NHS staff.
