Experience:
35 years in policing, including 15 years as a Crime Scene Manager/Coordinator, Head of Finger Print Bureau, Head of Forensic Submissions Department, Fire and Explosives Investigator, Police Mortuary Operations Coordinator, Scene Evidence Recovery Manager, College of Policing Associate. Post-retirement consultancy across UK forces, British Overseas Territories and internationally. For the last 3 years of service Ivor retained operational responsibility for the of direction forensic investigation of major crime whilst serving as Head of a Finger Print Bureau and Head of Forensic Submissions Department as Detective Inspector. Since 2010 Ivor has been the only person to have trained all of the Disaster Victim Identification Managers Nationally on behalf of the College of Policing.

Ivor is a retired Detective and qualified Crime Scene Coordinator, with 35 years of police experience. For the final 15 years of his service, Ivor led units within a UK police Force's Forensic Investigation Departments, overseeing numerous high-profile homicide forensic investigations renowned nationally.
As an Accredited Criminal Case Review Officer, Ivor has carried out complex historic Forensic reviews for high profile multiple homicides on behalf of UK and Oversees Police Forces.
As well as Forensic accreditations Ivor still holds Disaster Victim Identification accreditations - Police Mortuary Coordinator and Scene Evidence Recovery Manager. During his service Ivor managed many large-scale scenes in his own Force and nationally when requested by other Forces. Ivor ran the Repatriation Centre for bodies following the Tsunami in Thailand in 2005.
Ivor is a Lecturer on the Forensic Course at Exeter University.
Since retirement, Ivor has worked extensively as a consultant and trainer. He has delivered several high-profile homicide reviews, developed and delivered National Disaster Victim Identification Courses for Senior Investigators and middle managers and continues to deliver these programmes to forces across the UK. Through the College of Policing, Home Office and Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, he has deployed on multiple occasions to Anguilla, Kenya, Poland (Ukraine) and Turks and Caicos, delivering complex crime reviews, Forensic training, War Crimes training, DVI Training and ongoing mentoring and support to local staff. He also delivers bespoke training to other organisations, including Trading Standards.
Ivor’s approach is grounded in practical, experience-led delivery. He believes that as one of the last Forensic Professionals who was also a major crime detective his skills profile is almost unique and brings practical investigative knowledge to the forensic direction of both major crime and major disaster incidents. Effective training and mentoring can only come from broad based personal experience and operational decision making. This approach will ensure the longevity and adoption of Ivor’s contributions.
