Russ is a retired Detective Inspector and qualified Senior Investigating Officer and Sensitive Intelligence Unit leader with 30 years of police experience. He spent over 25 years in the world of Countering Serious Organised Crime and Terrorism. As a Senior investigating officer he has vast practical knowledge of covert policing, how to use and protect sensitive intelligence and tactics to meet operational objectives and bring prosecutions to their conclusion.
As an Intelligence team leader, Russ has in depth knowledge of the National Intelligence Model and its products and has created strategic and tactical intelligence collection plans for local, regional and national problems.
He was recognised as his forces lead on sensitive disclosure and was part of and often advised gold groups on sensitive tactics and intelligence handling.
Russ has held the Senior Investigating Officers - PIP/3 - and was the first Intelligence Manager to achieve the IPP Managers accreditation in his joint force protective services department. He has led investigative operations with overseas law enforcement agencies as a ROCU Senior investigative officer.
Since retirement, Russ has worked extensively as a consultant and trainer. Delivering training and mentoring to Police Officers in the British Overseas Territories. He has also provided training to NGO’s and is currently looking at how Organised Crime is exploiting the waste management sector.
Russ believes that every day is a school day! Now is always the time to learn something new and never be afraid to ask a question. Russ thrives on being able to provide anybody with an opportunity to improve themselves professionally and personally. He takes this outside of the workplace, and with his family fosters children and young people to ensure no opportunity is missed in their life.
