Trevor Botting is an international policing and executive leadership specialist with a career in law enforcement spanning 41 years. He served for 30 years with Sussex Police in the United Kingdom, reaching the rank of Superintendent, before leading policing across two British Overseas Territories (BOTs) — first as Chief of Police for St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha, and subsequently as Commissioner of Police for the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force. He also served as Vice President of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP).
Trevor's expertise spans executive policing leadership, operational command and the multi-agency oversight of emergency services. Across his career he has led roads policing, firearms, dog units and underwater search, serving as both a tactical and strategic firearms commander on high-risk operations and as the Force lead for hostage and crisis negotiation. At executive level he has held accountability not only for policing but also for immigration, fire and rescue, custody and sea rescue, alongside national responsibility for emergency planning and major incident management. He brings particular strength in leading culturally diverse organisations serving culturally diverse communities, and in international and Caribbean policing contexts.
Experience:
Trevor has held the most senior policing roles across UK and international jurisdictions, from Superintendent in Sussex Police to Chief of Police and, latterly, Commissioner of Police. His experience encompasses operational and strategic command, organisational leadership, crisis and major incident response, and the design and introduction of force-wide and territory-wide plans and procedures. He has led organisations through hurricanes, public health emergencies and serious crime challenges, and has contributed at a regional strategic level through the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP).

Trevor began his policing career with Sussex Police, where he served for 30 years and reached the rank of Superintendent. He built an extensive operational portfolio, including ten years in roads policing followed by a series of roles within the Operations department up to the rank of Chief Inspector, heading the Force Dog Unit, the Underwater Search Team and the Tactical Firearms Unit. He served as a tactical and strategic firearms commander, leading high-risk operations across the Force, and was the Force lead for hostage and crisis negotiation as a Negotiator Coordinator. Prior to his promotion to Superintendent in the role of Crime and Operations for East Sussex, he was District Commander for Bexhill, delivering neighbourhood policing across the district.
Trevor was then appointed Chief of Police for the British Overseas Territory of St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha. The role combined the responsibilities of Chief of Police, Chief Immigration Officer, Fire and Rescue Chief, Prison Superintendent, Head of Sea Rescue and national lead for emergency planning. During his tenure he led the introduction of the first island-wide Major Incident Plan as part of the new airport development.
After just under four years on St Helena, Trevor was appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean in 2017, and just over two years later, in July 2019, he was appointed Commissioner of Police for the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, a position he held for four and a half years. As Commissioner, he led the organisation's response to two major hurricanes (Irma and Maria), a fatal aircraft crash, the COVID-19 pandemic, and a surge in gang-related crime.
Throughout his international service, Trevor built a wealth of experience in policing and in leading culturally diverse organisations serving culturally diverse communities. He also served as Vice President of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP), most notably leading the development of an Association Strategic Plan for its 26 member states.
